Whyalla Town Entry Statements

$0.00
Creative town entry statements are becoming a must for regional Australian towns, with striking, surprising or endearing signage becoming nearly a destination in themselves. A good entry statement is a great first impression that may encourage travelers to stay longer in the region. Often, cities choose to incorporate elements of local industry and natural beauty into the design of their signage.

The South Australian town of Whyalla is well-known for its long tradition of steel production, so it is no surprise Whyalla City Council chose to construct their welcome signs from slabs of Corten rust-effect steel. Corten has become popular in construction and decorative uses as it develops a warm rust finish without the corrosion that would actually damage the structure. Local tradesmen constructed the sign’s base from blocks of local sandstone, which complement the Corten panels. Three-dimensional letters form the city’s name.
